How You Can Create A Photo Portfolio Book

If you are an aspiring professional photographer then you need to put together a collection of your best works. This process is called creating a portfolio, which is basically a book that is used by everyone who is involved in fashion and in the arts. There are a number of ways that you can create your own photo portfolio book, you can set it up to show photos that you have taken depending on specific ideas or genre, time periods, location or even emotions; just keep in mind that this portfolio in itself is a work of art and should clearly showcase your creativity as a photographer. And one of the first things that you need to do when you organize such a book is to go through all of the photos that you have taken and pick out some of your best works. Once you have made your choices, gather these up and put them in a folder where you will start your portfolio.

The next thing that you must do is to organize these photos in a specific order; you can choose to arrange them by the date or seasons that you took the photos (August, 2005 or Summer of 2009, for example) or you can arrange them based on specific subjects (old houses or birds in flight or weird cloud formations, for instance). Once you have done this, you need to create copies or prints of these photos so you can put it in your photography portfolio. If you are using film and you got a darkroom at home, you can either print the photos yourself or you can scan the actual photos, save the digitized images on a flash drive and have professionals print the images; for those using digital cameras, you can simply save your photos in a flash drive and have professional photo printers do the rest. The next thing that you would need to do is to prepare your portfolio by mounting the printed images onto a mat board; remember to mount the photos using light glue and use adhesive materials that are specially used for photos, unless of course, you would like to damage the photos.

After you have mounted all the photos, you then would need to place them inside your portfolio folder, following the specific arrangement or theme that you have chosen your portfolio to have. There are some photography portfolios that include a short introduction as well as an autobiography of the photographer, and these are often found in the front pages of the portfolio. And then, you would need to think of a title for your portfolio, one that best describes the images that you have on its pages. Apart from setting up or organizing an actual portfolio, most freelance photographers these days prefer to set up a web site or a blog where they also upload photos that they have taken which is also their way to advertise their services to companies or individuals who are looking for freelance photographers that they can hire.
